WHO AM I?

Real estate: Who's buying now

The nation is changing. So is the average home buyer.

NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- Changing American demographics and social norms are altering the real estate landscape: the average home buyer is very different compared with buyers of generations past.

The biggest group of home buyers by far is still married couples, accounting for 61 percent of all homes bought, according to the National Association of Realtors.

"What would YOU do?"...

Another one of life's lessons....

Young King Arthur was ambushed and imprisoned by the monarch of a neighboring kingdom. The monarch could have killed him but was moved by Arthur's youth and ideals. So, the monarch offered him his freedom, as long as he could answer a very difficult question. Arthur would have a year to figure out the answer and, if after a year, he still had no answer, he would be put to death.

The question?... What do women really want? Such a question would perplex even the most knowledgeable man, and to young Arthur, it seemed an impossible query. But, since it was better than death, he accepted the monarch's proposition to have an answer by year's end.

He returned to his kingdom and began to poll everyone: the princess, the priests, the wise men and even the court jester. He spoke with everyone, but no one could give him a satisfactory answer.

Many people advised him to consult the old witch, for only she would have the answer. But the price would be high; as the witch was famous throughout the kingdom for the exorbitant prices she charged.

The last day of the year arrived and Arthur had no choice but to talk to the witch. She agreed to answer the question, but he would have to agree to her price first. The old witch wanted to marry Sir Lancelot, the most noble of the Knights of the Round Table and Arthur's closest friend!

Young Arthur was horrified. She was hunchbacked and hideous, had only one tooth, smelled like sewage, made obscene noises, etc. He had never encountered such a repugnant creature in all his life. He refused to force his friend to marry her and endure such a terrible burden; but Lancelot, learning of the proposal, spoke with Arthur. He said nothing was too big of a sacrifice compared to Arthur's life and the preservation of the Round Table. Hence, a wedding was proclaimed and the witch answered Arthur's question thus:

What a woman really wants, she answered..."is to be in charge of her own life."

Everyone in the kingdom instantly knew that the witch had uttered a great truth and that Arthur's life would be spared.

And so it was, the neighboring monarch granted Arthur his freedom and Lancelot and the witch had a wonderful wedding.
The honeymoon hour approached and Lancelot, steeling himself for a horrific experience, entered the bedroom. But, what a sight awaited him. The most beautiful woman he had ever seen lay before him on the bed. The astounded Lancelot asked what had happened?

The beauty replied that since he had been so kind to her when she appeared as a witch, she would henceforth, be her horrible deformed self only half the time and the beautiful maiden the other half.

Which would he prefer? Beautiful during the day... or night?

Lancelot pondered the predicament. During the day, a beautiful woman to show off to his friends, but at night, in the privacy of his castle, an old witch? Or, would he prefer having a hideous witch during the day, but by night, a beautiful woman for him to enjoy wondrous intimate moments?

Noble Lancelot said that he would allow HER to make the choice herself.

Upon hearing this, she announced that she would be beautiful all the time because he had respected her enough to let her be in charge of her own life.

Now... what is the moral to this story?????

The moral is.....If you don't let a woman have her own way....things are going to get ugly!!!

A dismal day in paradise and sleep escapes me even though I’m tired. I look out of the window to the lonely streets, no one is passing, but it matters not because today is the day I begin again. “Make it happen number one” is what I hear. And I will…right after my nap.

Snow covered world like a blankety blanket. No hot water unless you crank it. Wondering when we will thaw. Forces unite amid stupendous crisis, singing we shall overcome. "She Was So Lovely"...

Mother on the phone to her friend, I hear, “Oh no, she was so lovely. When did it happen?” And briefly I wonder if I know who she is talking about without even asking… but no. I can’t possibly guess because for 25 years now, I have not returned home and I don’t remember anyone.


"If"...

If I told you that I loved you, would it matter most to you or to me? If we danced in the moonlight would our skin be stained the colour of the moon? Would our kisses drip like honey from a star spangled spoon or melt like butter on a hot sunny day? Yes, yes!

AWAKE - THOSE THAT SLEEP

A miracle beckons at the
Frayed edges of tired dreams.

Each one of us endures the shreds
Of disappointment in our own way
Until the threads that bind our dreams
Finally snap.

Releasing our grip on what
Was never there,
We allow the miracle to replace
What, as imagined victims,
We held so dear.

Now at last
The Truth is revealed,
No victims we - but creators all.

Master architects are we,
Sculpting phantom castles,
With dungeons deep
And elusive bars to hold
Wretched souls in ephemeral bondage.

Cowering, trapped in imaginary corners,
Bowing to legions of imaginary fears,
Our eyes suddenly behold
The hand that held the
Judgment pen was our own.

A sweet and lovely vision,
As sleepers we oppose,
Yet irresistible when finally
The foggy veil of Maya is lifted
From our blinded eye.

Yet in this amazing revelation,
Still, we sleep,
Witness to our dreaming state.

How then to awaken
The sleeping beauty we
Have found ourselves to be?

If architects we are,
Other dreams need be created -
Beautiful, happy dreams that sooth
The soul and heal
The ancient wounds we once

Bloggers love to include lots of links. It's one of the trademarks of this form of writing and something I've practiced from the beginning of these entries on the Writing Life. The links are a way to give additional information and value to the reading experience. But what if you accidentally put in the wrong link or a link which doesn't work? If you do, you frustrate lots of readers.

Yesterday for the first time, I went to Duct Tape Marketing, which has numerous blog awards. I'll be returning here often. As I looked around the site, each time my mouse pointed to a link, to my surprise the actual site appeared in a miniature format. It's a free tool called Snap Preview Anywhere that you can also get at Snap.com. It's quick and a matter of pasting a bit of code into the blog template. According to Snap.com, 50% of searches end in failure. Their search tool is something you should look into downloading, installing and giving a test drive.

"I Have A Dream" by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

This speech was delivered by Dr. King at the Lincoln Memorial during the 'March on Washington', on Aug. 28, 1963.

"I am happy to join with you today, in what will go down in history, as the greatest demonstration for freedom in the history of our nation."

"Five score years ago, a great American, in whose symbolic shadow we stand today, signed the Emancipation Proclamation. This momentous decree came as a great beacon light of hope to millions of Negro slaves, who had been seared in the flames of withering injustice. It came as a joyous daybreak to end the long night of their captivity. But one hundred years later, the Negro still is not free. One hundred years later, the life of the Negro is still sadly crippled by the manacles of segregation and the chains of discrimination. One hundred years later, the Negro lives on a lonely island of poverty, in the midst of a vast ocean of material prosperity. One hundred years later, the Negro is still languished in the corners of American society and finds himself an exile in his own land. And so we've come here today to dramatize a shameful condition."

"In a sense we've come to our nation's capital to cash a check. When the architects of our Republic wrote the magnificent words of the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence, they were signing a promissory note, to which every American was to fall heir. Change for the better of course, because also in the words of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., "An eye for an eye leaves everybody blind." Hey! You know what I always say, "Change your mind, change your life." Or in this case, the lives of countless many. God bless!

"Catch me...with smoke on my breath and my eyes just a little too red..." "Won't somebody please catch me..." Yep!!!...Very catchy!!! LOL

Bookmark these resources If you ever need to create a quick bibliography, then check out Ottobib.com. While it only works for books, you put in the International Standard Book Number (ISBN), select the type of bibliographic entry that you need (MLA, APA or Chicago/Turabian), hit the button that says, "Get Citations" and instantly you have the citation along with a permanent URL to reference. It's a resource worth bookmarking into a folder in your favorites.

I mark a number of websites into the favorites of my computer, but what if through some disaster, my computer crashes, what happens to all of that research and experience? Does it disappear? It does unless you protect it. Or what if you are away from your personal computer at the library and need to find a particular website but can’t recall the exact location? Are you stuck? Maybe unless you have stored all of your favorites into a place called Backflip.com. I've mentioned this site before but it was almost two years ago. If you are at someone's office or wherever, you can always access your favorite links. Both of these resources have a great price tag: free. Take a few minutes to look around but make sure you bookmark them for your needs and your writing life.

"HOW TO INSTALL LOVE"...





Customer Service (CS)Rep.: Yes, Ma'am, how may I help you today?


Customer: Well, after much consideration, I've decided to install LOVE. Can you guide me through the process?

CS Rep.: Yes, I can help you. Are you ready to proceed?

Customer: Well, I'm not very technical, but I think I'm ready to install now. What do I do first?

CS Rep.: The first step is to open your HEART. Have you located your HEART ma'am?

Customer: Yes I have, but there are several other programs running right now. Is it okay to install while they are running?

CS Rep.: What programs are running ma'am?

Customer: Let's see, I have PAST- HURT.EXE, LOW ESTEEM.EXE, GRUDGE.EXE, and RESENTMENT.COM running right now.

CS Rep.: No problem. LOVE will gradually erase PAST-HURT.EXE from your current operating system. It may remain in your permanent memory, but it will no longer disrupt other programs. LOVE will eventually overwrite LOW-ESTEEM.EXE with a module of its own called HIGH-ESTEEM.EXE. However, you have to completely turn off GRUDGE.EXE and RESENTMENT.COM. Those programs prevent LOVE from being properly installed. Can you turn those off ma'am?

Customer: I don't know how to turn them off. Can you tell me how?

CS Rep.: My pleasure. Go to your Start menu and invoke FORGIVENESS.EXE. Do this as many times as necessary until GRUDGE.EXE and RESENTMENT.COM have been completely erased.

Customer: Okay, done. LOVE has started installing itself automatically. Is that normal?

CS Rep.: Yes. You should receive a message that says it will reinstall for the life of your HEART. Do you see that message?

Customer: Yes I do. Is it completely installed?

CS Rep.: Yes, but remember that you have only the base program. You need to begin connecting to other HEARTS in order to get the upgrades.

Customer: Oops. I have an error message already. What should I do?

CS Rep.: What does the message say?

Customer: It says "ERROR 412 - PROGRAM NOT RUN ON INTERNAL COMPONENTS." What does that mean?

CS Rep.: Don't worry ma'am, that's a common problem. It means that the LOVE program is set up to run on external HEARTS but has not yet been run on your HEART. It is one of those complicated programming things, but in non-technical terms it means you have to "LOVE" your own machine before it can "LOVE" others.

Customer: So what should I do?

CS Rep.: Can you pull down the directory called "SELF-ACCEPTANCE"?

Customer: Yes, I have it.

CS Rep.: Excellent. You're getting good at this.

Customer: Thank you.

CS Rep.: You're welcome. Click on the following files and then copy them to the "MYHEART" directory: FORGIVE-SELF.DOC, REALIZE-WORTH.TXT, and ACKNOWLEDGE-LIMITATIONS.DOC. The system will overwrite any conflicting files and begin patching any faulty programming. Also, you need to delete VERBOSE-SELF-CRITIC.EXE from all directories, and then empty your recycle bin afterwards to make sure it is completely and permanently gone erased.

Customer: Got it. Hey! My HEART is filling up with new files. SMILE.MPG is playing on my monitor right now and it shows that PEACE.EXE, and CONTENTMENT.COM are copying themselves all over my HEART. Is this normal?

CS Rep.: Sometimes. For others it takes a while, but eventually everything gets downloaded at the proper time. So, LOVE is installed and running. You should be able to handle it from here. One more thing before I go.

Customer: Yes?

CS Rep.: LOVE is freeware. Be sure to give it and its various modules to everybody you meet. They will share it with other people and then return some similarly sacred modules back to you.

Customer: I will. Thanks for your help. By the way, what's your name?

CS Rep.: You may call me the Divine Cardiologist, also known as The Great Physician, but most call me God. Many people feel all they need is an annual checkup to stay heart-healthy, but the Manufacturer suggests a schedule of daily maintenance for maximum efficiency. Put another way, keep in touch ...

(as written & emailed to me by a very dear friend that I respect)

I have spoken with a lot of people on this trip and come to the conclusion that 2007 is the year that...all decent people say !!!! Enough !!!! With all those who cheat on us, threaten to cheat on us, lie to us, violate our privacy, falsely accuse us while actively engaging in far WORSE behavior than they falsely accuse us of, try to entrap us, make us cry, break our hearts, pretend to be true friends, abuse us, abandon us, steal our time, steal our money, waste our blood, sweat and tears, fail to support us in an emotional way, stab us in the back, steal our energy, risk our souls and break all of their promises. Sin...all of it, why God hates it, cause of the damage it does...that is what I want to say most.

*Yes!! Enough!!! We each have to decide what we will and will not accept and as you have said in the past...learn to draw new lines in the sand. But playing the devil's advocate just a bit here, sometimes these little atrocities force us to wake up and re~examine the people, places and things in our lives! It's hell to operate on auto~pilot 24/7 trusting that all is well in the Universe without our full attention! I believe that even in the closest relationships, one must always be open to the possiblities of goodness yes certainly, but also we must remain vigil to the fact that betrayal is also a possibility since it seems to be human nature for people to forget who they are, where they came from, who helped them get there and under what "contract" the situation derived. Apparently in todays' world, being trustworthy and living a life of integrity and honour are quite subjective. I'm not sure why that is. And I'm not saying that we shouldn't trust because trust is integral to everything thing we do in this life, but what I am saying is that we should all remain awake and alert. I know by heart that it is quite shocking when the people who are supposed to love us, protect us and act in our best interest do not however, and all I can say is that it's best to sport a stout constitution, a clear mind, a good heart, good intentions, and have your eyes wide open all the time. We are not responsible for the actions of other's but we are responsible for our actions all of the time. That will never change. Hey!.....You can rest when you're dead! LOL

"Spinning The Yarn"...

If the asking..is the most serious part of the deed, then what is the most non~serious part of it? I dare not speculate cos as we know, speculation can be damn tricky business . Hey!, I did that once. Do you not find, that one question answered always leads to yet another question?...I find that it usually does! And in that case, just suppose that we got all of the answers to all of our questions all of the time...would that be dull? And wouldn't the answers become an opiate?...Geeze Louise At the very least I think it would tend to make us essentially very lazy people. I mean think about it will you? A point to ponder (borrowed from the Cabo San Lucas Gringo Gazette)...Would a fly without wings be called a "walk?"...LOL Sometimes I think there is only one question to ask anyways (Not!)...But which question is the most important? What if you could only ask one? Would it be "Where"..like.. "Where are you?"...or "When"...as in "When will you be back?"...or "Why"..as in "Why did you go in the first place?"...or maybe even "Who"...as in "Who do you think you're fooling?...or possibly even "What"..as in "What lies beneath this humble exterior?...(oh boy, did I just say humble?..geeze:)...or how about..."How"..like.."How did I get here?"...NO!!!! REALLY!.."How did I?"...These my friends are "real" questions, that may or may not require real answers...LOL...and if truly asked, may leave the mind a~rumbling for quantum research/analysis but hell, I think this could tire me out pretty quickly so I'm just going to skip it...for now! Hey! Need a nap?...Yes?...I know I do!...Okay! Let's go!!! zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz....

There are no great answers in life anyways, only great questions... the answers are always subject to change depending upon the circumstances that life brings to you at the time the question is being asked...am I wrong?...The same question asked 5 years later(or earlier for that matter) will not bring the same answer as the present moment so why bother asking? This much I know to be true...there are always variables such as location, location, location and then throw in a little mix of age, experience and wisdom and or superstitous beliefs...and then Boom!...there you go again...confusing isnt it? Ever heard anyone say "ooohh that's a great answer?"..not very often huh? That's because most people say "oohh thats a great question!"..(thanks ever so much for asking)...and then it's usually followed by the proverbial ramble...(insert subjective point of view here)...LOL Hey, if a turtle loses its shell is it naked..or homeless? Why dont sheep shrink when it rains? Is it unnerving that doctors call what they do "practice!" If a parsley farmer is sued can they garnish his wages? Why do they put Braille on drive through bank machines?...Yikes!!! If love were chocolate, would it be rich? If kisses were raindrops, would there be many? or how about...If the sun were cold, would it still be yellow? And finally...If you feet are smelling and your nose is running, are you upside down? Curious...LOL

On another note..a few years back, I saw a woman wearing a sweatshirt that said "Guess" on it...I said, uuuuummm....I dont know, implants?...LOL..you had to be there..I Guess..LOL..

I went to the bookstore the other day and asked the sales clerk where I could find the self help section...she said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose...LOL..I laughed!...nonetheless...I did peruse the joint until I came across a jewel of a read... therefore, the latest and greatest recommendation for leisure reading is by an author aptly named Nick (as in 'of time') Bantock...he is terribly gifted with the pen (or nowadays the keyboard)...you can peruse him at amazon.com as well as other places I'm sure..but the trilogy(that’s right three) of his best offerings can be purchased in a bundled set for under forty bucks...such a deal...the main book is titled "Griffin and Sabine"...its very well written and is quite frankly very addicting, so you will want to buy the boxed set (also includes "Sabine's Notebook" and "The Golden Mean")...and I believe there is another addition written many moons later by the same charming and wonderful author and should prove to be a delightful addition to the repertoire...also matching postcards and stationery if you are into that sort of thing. You may have read Nick Bantock previously in "The Venetians Wife”. It was wildly popular upon its release. A strangely sensual tale of a Renaissance explorer, a computer and a metamorphosis which kind of sounds like modern day courtship doesnt it? LOL I have to go but I leave you with one final query...If you try to fail and succeed..which one have you done? hhhmmmm thinking, thinking...

Annual awards are given in the following categories:

These awards reflect the vision and commitment of Hillman, president of the Amalgamated Clothing Workers of America (a predecessor union of UNITE HERE), whose tireless efforts to bring dignity and respect to working people left a lasting legacy for the American public.

Hillman was an architect of the New Deal and worked to build a vibrant union movement extending beyond the shop floor to all aspects of workers' lives. Today, his belief in social and political activist trade unionism is in the forefront of creating a new progressive movement for social change.

"Immortality anyone???"...

According to Tom Robbins, author of the most wonderful book, "Jitterbug Perfume"... immoratlity methodology sounds too simplistic to be feasible. He says, "the results would be far more dramatic than the process, even though, for all practical purposes, the results are the process"...VBS!!! He further states, "that whether guided by a divine intelligence or inspired in some supernatural fashion or by simply being informed of your own intuition, a program based on the four elements; air, water, earth and fire is whats needed to sustain a good, happy and healthy life...in essence, a legitimate manifestation of immoratlity can be produced"....curious isnt it?...

Okay then, for the moment lets say that we connect air to breathing, water to bathing, earth to food and fire to sex..then what?...maybe by supplying a mixture of empiracal fact and medical theory to support the case for these life extending properties, this quartet when ritualistically and resolutley embraced..works...but what about the mind's ability to aid and abet the body?...he addresses that by saying, "that we should not forget the 5th element...positive thinking".... aaahh as in the power of?...Indeed!.."In positive thought and pointing out that breathing, bathing, eating and screwing bring about much physical pleasure so much so, that an organism steeped in leasure is an organism disposed to continue life"...so I ponder, if thats true...is it also true that we cannot...'overestimate' these elements..as a stimulant to longetivity....and can we go further to say that if we do NOT adhere to these basics...ninety percent of all deaths would be considered suicides?...Geeze, nothing to be said for a slow painful death huh?...

As you know, it has also been said, "that persons who lack curiosity about life, who find minimal joy in existance, are all too willing, subconsciously, to cooperate with and attract--disease, accident, violence and subsequently death"...that makes perfect sense to me...does it to you?...curious! :) Hey!...how do you feel about calories..since there are more of them than there are of us?...LOL...I caution you to know, accept and understand...that the four elements are not defined as cocaine, champagne, chocolate and pussy..LOLOLOLOL...but boy could that be fun... Robbins says, "Sure, life is a lot of misery all right, and death is more misery yet. Dread, fear, guilt, even a bit of neurosis are perfectly natural responses to a life that promised such an unescapable end. The trick is not to take such responses too seriously, not to trivialize your all too short stay in your carton of flesh by cooperating with death....Since reality is subjective, and there's an unenlightening tendancy in this culture to regard something as "important" only if its sober and severe. Sure and still it is true about the Cheerful Dumb, only they are not so much happy as lobotomized. and the Gloomy Smart are just as ridiculous. When you're unhappy, you get to pay a lot of attention to yourself. And you get to take yourself oh so very seriously. But truly happy people, which is to say, the people who truly like themselves, they dont think about themselves very much at all. The unhappy person usually resents it when you try to cheer him up, because that means he has to stop dwelling on himself and start paying attention to the universe and other things that are around him. Unhappiness is therefore, the ultimate form of self~indulgence.".. I have never heard it more eloquently stated and although I have been "guity" of the same from time to time..I will try nonetheless, to steer clear of this dimenuendo in the present and very near future...In fact, I think we should all give it the good old fashioned American whirl...what do you say?...LOL

Think I read too much?...LOL..well, IMHO there is no such thing as reading too much unless of course its only the reading of prissy academic novels that counts... LOL...You should note that I read "rags" on occasion as well...but ("borrowed from somewhere"?)... when I was a small girl I used to climb into bed, in the wee hours of the morning, between my Mom and my Dad, right up in the middle and immediately they would both roll over and turn a back to me just like a pair of bookends...so, it's only natural that I grew up thinking I was a volume...LOL

"Initial Review"...

Remember the words of Henry David Thoreau… "If one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams, and endeavors to live the life which he has imagined, he will meet with a success unexpected in common hours." The easiest way to accomplish something is to get excited about what you're doing. So the first thing you should do is choose something exciting to do!

I am very excited about finally becoming an official blogger and I look forward to spending more time with you as days go by. Eventually, I will learn more about how to actually "do" this blog and contribute more. I am making creative writing a priority for my personal expression in 2007. I have to find time for other things besides just working 14-18 hours days, 7 days a week. This is my attempt at rediscovering my creative side, not that it doesn't take some creativity to run an architectural design firm and manage many multi-million dollar real estate development projects, but I am talking about using this deeply personal creative outlet as a means for reconnecting to the World and to you my treasured friends, family and colleagues. I know many of you, like me, have forgotten what a personal life is, so perhaps I am doing me and you a favour by inviting & inspiring you to attend my blog at your leisure...kind of like a pajama party that lasts the whole weekend and you can come and go as you please...and that's with or without your house shoes love...LOL
